The Transfer Experience Center (TEC) is a space where newly admitted and current transfer students can meet other transfer students and learn more about resources and opportunities to help you successfully transition to the UT Austin community. The center provides academic and social programming where you can interact with faculty, staff and peers throughout your Longhorn journey, all the way to graduation.
The TEC is a partnership between the following offices:
- Office of the Dean of Students
- New Student Services
- Transfer-Year Experience Program in the School of Undergraduate Studies
- Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement
- Student Success Initiatives in the Provost's Office
Details and Hours
Located at 2609 University Avenue, the TEC is comprised of a lounge area, kitchen and Multipurpose Room 2.106.
The TEC is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the TEC is staffed by student leaders from the Dean’s Squad. Staff will be available during those hours to answer any questions you may have about the university and resources available to you as a transfer student.

TRANSFER-YEAR EXPERIENCE (TYE) PROGRAM DROP-IN HOURS
The Transfer-Year Experience (TYE) Program provides drop-in hours for transfer students in the Transfer Experience Center (TEC). The TYE Program can help you explore UT Austin resources and craft a plan for a successful transition to campus.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES OUTSIDE OF TEC
Vick Center for Strategic Advising and Career Counseling
You can visit the Vick Center for Strategic Advising and Career Counseling, located in Jester (JES) A115, to get assistance with exploring majors and career paths, adding or dropping classes, registration, internal transfers and more. They take appointments and have drop-in hours Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Vick Center will see any student (prospective, admitted, or current) and have one-on-one time with them during weekly drop-in hours.
The Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence (LCAE) Tutoring
