Parents and Families

student with parents at orientation at UT Austin

Texas Parents coordinates orientation programming for the parents and family members of UT’s incoming freshman and transfer students.

The purpose of Family Orientation is to introduce parents and families to the university and its resources while students attend their first day of their student orientation program. By choosing to participate in orientation programming, parents and families are taking the next critical step in supporting their Longhorn’s successful transition to life at UT.

Family Orientation Registration

You and your student must BOTH register for an orientation session: students register via the New Student Services registration system and families register on the Family Orientation website.

You should make hotel arrangements immediately after your student registers for their orientation session. If you wait to reserve a hotel you may not be able to find one with vacancies, which may force your student to switch session dates.

Join Texas Parents

Membership will help you navigate the university, provide guidance and resources and connect you with a community of fellow Longhorn parents who become a dedicated network of support.
