Registration

2026 Summer Longhorn Orientation registration open dates and times will be released in Spring 2026. If you would like more information on Spring Orientation (Spring 2026 admits ONLY), please click here.

Registration will open based on the college or school to which the student was admitted. Orientation seats are limited by college and school so students will have an equal opportunity to secure a seat, regardless of which day registration opens. When available, you will be able to view the schedule on the Orientation Dates tab to see which colleges and schools will be available during each orientation session.

You must be an admitted student, accepted your offer of admission and have paid your enrollment deposit (if required) in order to register for orientation. Check MyStatus to verify if you have completed these steps. If your enrollment deposit was waived, you must still accept your offer of admission via MyStatus.

After you select your orientation session and complete the registration form, your seat for orientation will be reserved. YOUR ORIENTATION REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. You will be automatically dropped from your session if payment is not received by 11:59 PM CT the day you register. Go to What I Owe to pay via credit card or eCheck. Your registration will be confirmed and you will receive a confirmation email once you have paid via What I Owe.

Note that if your family would like to participate in Family Orientation, it is a separate registration process and program. Learn more about the Family Orientation program and register to attend.

If you are admitted to the fall term and are unable to participate in any of the May/June/July sessions, there is a virtual August orientation session. All orientation sessions provide robust programming for incoming students, including August orientation. If all May/June/July orientation sessions are full for your college, you will automatically see the option to register for August Orientation within the registration portal.

Registration Status

After registering, you can check your registration status at any time on the registration home page.

Canceling Your Registration

If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so by the registration close date. Visit your registration home page to cancel your registration.

Please note that if you cancel your orientation session, a $25 non-refundable charge will be assessed, which will be deducted from your refund amount if you have already paid for your session. You will receive a refund check in the mail within two to four weeks of cancellation. If you do not cancel within the required time period, you will not receive a refund.

If you register for a May/June/July session and fail to attend (no show), you will need to go back into the system and register the next available session. Your full payment for the May/June/July session will transfer to August Orientation but will not be refunded.

Registration for August Orientation cannot be canceled.

To cancel your session:

  • Visit your registration home page.
  • Login using your EID and password.
  • Select "Cancel Registration" on the right-hand side of your confirmation page.

All students, including deferred, are responsible for any outstanding orientation charges.

IMPORTANT: If you’ve decided not to attend UT Austin, you will need to formally cancel your admission via My Status, and you will need to also cancel your orientation. Your orientation will NOT be automatically canceled if you cancel your admission. You will still be liable for any outstanding balance (this includes deferments) if you do not cancel your orientation by your orientation’s cancellation deadline.

Switching Orientation Sessions

Switching orientation sessions is not recommended. Orientation space is limited, so it is important to try to attend the session you sign up to participate in. If you need to change your session, you must do so before the registration close date.

Please note, once you register for August Orientation, you cannot switch sessions.

IMPORTANT: You should not attempt to coordinate with another student to switch orientation sessions, even if you are both in the same college. There are several factors that determine how many spaces are available in each session and who can fill those spaces. If you cancel your registration assuming you can switch to a different session, that switch may not be possible and you could end up losing your spot.
