2025 Freshman Longhorn Orientation Schedules

Coming soon!

More detailed information about your orientation session will be emailed to you closer to your session.

Your orientation program has been designed to be as informational and helpful as possible. Our goal is to provide you with the resources you need to succeed academically and find your place in the UT Austin community.

Participating in orientation throughout the duration of your session is required. Please do not register for an orientation session if you know you will be unavailable for the required time frame.  Incoming students should plan to be attending orientation between 8 a.m. on Day 1 and 2:30 p.m. on the final day.

Students attending freshman orientation (May/June/July sessions only) will arrive on campus an check-in to orientation on the morning of Day 1 at Jester Residence Hall (JES).  Students are required to stay in provided on-campus housing for the duration of your session. Two nights of housing and meals are included as part of orientation registration. Students will check out of the residence hall on Day 3.

On-campus housing is not provided for students attending Spring, Summer Term or August Orientation. Required components of these sessions will take place virtually.

All orientation programs will take place in Central Standard Time.

Here's a brief overview of what you can expect during your session:

Canvas Modules

You will need to complete Canvas modules as part of your orientation session. The modules contain helpful resources for academic success, navigating campus life and health and safety at UT Austin. Modules will be available 2 Fridays before the start of your scheduled session.

College Meeting

You will participate in a College Meeting with your college or school, where you’ll learn more about college requirements and expectations, degree plans and how to use the course registration system.

Academic Advising

You will also have a meeting with an academic advisor who will go over the course schedule with you, talk about your degree plan and help you map out a sample schedule of classes. Meeting with an academic advisor is required for course registration.

Campus Connection

Connect with fellow UT Austin students through small group meetings and social programs hosted during orientation. There will also be many opportunities to hear about University programs, services and resources throughout your experience.

Course Registration

Be sure to access your Registration Information Sheet prior to orientation to review any holds. Advising Holds will be cleared during your advising appointment at orientation and no action is needed. If you have an Immunization Hold, you should submit your documentation to University Health Services at least two weeks prior to your session to ensure it can be processed and resolved in time for orientation.

Course registration will take place on the final day of your scheduled session.
